Who Sporecyte is

Techcyte builds AI for digital microscopy and holds a patent for AI-based detection of mould spores (2020). Sporecyte is its environmental product: spore-trap slides are scanned to a whole-slide image, the AI classifies spores and other particles across the entire trace, and lab analysts verify the classification.

For AirTrap, the slides are scanned and analysed with the Sporecyte platform at Apacor's mould lab in the UK – the physical side of the analysis is described on the laboratory partnership page.

What the partnership brings

The whole trace, every time

The AI reads 100 % of the trace on the slide. Manual microscopy typically evaluates a fraction of it and extrapolates.

Breadth

Sporecyte identifies more than 90 spore types and over 10 classes of common airborne particles – pollen, skin fragments, insect parts, fibres.

Consistency

The same criteria on every slide, whoever is on shift – the basis for comparing rooms, dates and properties.

Evidence

High-resolution images taken from your slide go into the report, so you can show your client what was found.

AI with a specialist in the loop

The AI proposes, a person decides. Every classification is reviewed by a trained analyst; unclear objects are re-examined on the digital slide, and only then is the report released. That is the combination Techcyte describes as faster, more accurate and more consistent than either method alone – and it is why the report can say what was found, not just how much.
